We are learning a lot during the pandemic about new ways of working. We have also learned from our employees what they want from an office. We know that the office and face-to-face interactions play an important role in accelerating innovation, collaboration, learning, sharing and celebration. I couldn’t be more proud of our new GSK Canada head office and the incredible team of talented and dedicated individuals who made it happen with employees’ wellbeing in mind every step of the way.Read all about it👇 https://lnkd.in/gayauSS5

“It’s not ovarian cancer or uterine cancer. It’s Adrienne’s cancer.” Those powerful words summarize the perspective that Adrienne, a cancer patient, shared with our team when we had the privilege to hear speak recently. Her incredible story is rich in insight, and one thought that lingers with me is how each patient manages the impact of their #GynecologicalCancer in unique, personal ways.Gynecologic cancers—like #OvarianCancer and #EndometrialCancer—can be as highly individualized as each person diagnosed. This reality means our industry must rise to the challenge of helping patients like Adrienne see their own futures in front of them as they navigate their #cancer journey. The most important thing people can do to protect themselves is tend to their overall health, be attentive to changes, get screened, ask questions and be aware of what might signal a need for closer scrutiny. Put another way: it’s critical to #KnowTheSigns to improve early detection. Taking a holistic approach to preventive care and whole body health will make a difference and can save lives. The most vital member of a patient’s care team is the patient themself. They deserve to be an active participant in their own care, and their voice should be respected and present in every care decision. But we also know the numerous challenges of managing illness while also trying to find your way through the complex healthcare system.Thankfully there are advocates and allies who support patients and their caregivers. They work to raise the collective voice of patients to bring about needed change while also supporting and empowering patients to take an active role in their healthcare journey. Tomorrow, August 19, is #NationalPatientAdvocacyDay—our opportunity to recognize the advocates who work tirelessly to ensure patients’ voices are heard by helping them navigate the healthcare system and providing information needed to choose the right treatment options. At @GSK, our focus on the patient experience drives our work with patient advocates who elevate patients' needs and concerns, especially for those facing the obstacles associated with living with cancer. It is our mission to work together to develop and implement patient-centered solutions, while improving the quality of care and patient outcomes. Please join me in celebrating the incredible work of patient advocates who push for better healthcare access, quality, and solutions.

I am proud to be part of an organization that is focused on continually building a workplace where everyone can feel a sense of belonging. When we celebrate diversity and individuality, we create space for colleagues to share their personal experiences – their challenges and their hopes for the future. When we do, we are even more likely to create better health outcomes for the patients who rely on us.That’s why this #PrideMonth I’ve taken time to reflect on how we can continue to lift the voices of our LGBTQ+ community within GSK and beyond. https://lnkd.in/gS2jWU7X

By putting our entire organization to work for patients, GSK prioritizes care and support for people in need—including the survivors and caregivers within our own community. I’m proud to share my support for the #workingwithcancer pledge to bring more awareness to the incredible toll of cancer on all aspects of our lives, including the stigma that can exist in the workplace. As the executive sponsor of our Cancer Awareness and Resources for Employees (CARE) employee resource group, I’m always looking for ways to better foster a work environment that supports and cares foremployees affected by #cancer. Working together we’re building a community where colleagues impacted by cancer – as a patient, caregiver, or loved one --feel safe to share their experience, ask questions and get support. We are striving to ensure all are treatedwith compassion, dignity, and respect as they navigate their unique #CancerCare journeys.#WorkingWithCancer #NationalCancerSurvivorMonth #AheadTogether

Each year in the U.S., approximately 20,000 women are diagnosed with #OvarianCancer. Numbers like these are startling, but also motivating as we work to advance care for people living with cancer who have limited treatment options. At GSK, we’re committed to helping ensure all patients and their loved ones have the right care, support and access.Join me this #WorldOvarianCancerDay as we work alongside the ovarian cancer community to raise awareness and help us get closer to #NoWomanLeftBehind.

I’m always impressed by the depth and variety of conversations I have at the @Society of Gynecologic Oncology’s Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer. This year’s theme—Patients, Purpose, Progress—perfectly aligns with @GSK’s efforts to chart a new course for how patients can live with #GynecologicCancer, specifically in the endometrial and ovarian cancer communities.I’m leaving this year’s #SGOmtg feeling so encouraged by the contributions of committed colleagues and industry peers to help shape an intentional and improved patient experience for so many in the #oncology community.

On this International Women’s Day, I’m reflecting on what we can do better to #EmbraceEquity within our industry to support the health and well-being of all women. For me, it’s about listening, learning and seeking out ways to create equity by looking for opportunities to have different voices heard – and challenging myself to be better every day. As the leader of an oncology team with a focus on gynecological health, I am committed to striving to have a positive impact on the lives of women living with cancer. As a son, husband and dad to three daughters, I am dedicated to working toward a future that is more diverse, equitable and inclusive. #IWD2023 #EmbraceEquity

Today, on #WorldCancerDay, and every day, it is my privilege to lead motivated and purposeful teams focused on delivering medicines and care programs to provide a better future to people impacted by cancer. With our scientific heritage and deep understanding of oncology, we are tirelessly working to advance the standard of care for people living with cancer. Still, factors outside of science, like discrimination and lack of access to quality health care, can create barriers that prevent people from benefitting from the hard-won scientific advancements in #cancercare. Innovations must challenge inequities head on, addressing root causes that impede fairness in care.To #CloseTheCareGap in cancer means uniting our voices and taking action. At GSK, we are working with urgency to march toward advancement, so that collectively, we can make a difference.
