Shonen Jump Announces My Hero Academia End Date With Emotional Trailer (2024)

Kohei Horikoshi's popular superhero manga, My Hero Academia, has received an official date and special trailer for the last chapter of the Shonen Jump series, bringing it to its final conclusion after a decade of serialization.

As revealed in Shonen Jump's own "Jump Press" program on YouTube, Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga series will end on Aug. 5, 2024, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 36-37. The series will therefore conclude just over 10 years from the start of its serialization, which began in July 2014. Horikoshi also released a comment, which read, "Sorry for the two-week hiatus! Due to various schedule conflicts, it's become like a mille-feuille! The story will be completed in 5 chapters. You may be thinking, 'Still 5 more chapters to go?!' or 'Only 5 more chapters to go?!' but I'll do my best with these 5 more! With Deku and the others! I had to dig deep but the reason I was able to draw Deku and his friends for almost 10 years is because you continued reading. It was like a dream. Thank you very much! ...Well then! Let's meet up again in Jump!"

While Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 36-37 is six issues away, as alluded to earlier, Horikoshi is currently in the second half of a two-week break due to illness, alongside Jujutsu Kaisen's Gege Akutami. Akutami and Jump recently announced a further one-week extension to his break as his health continues to improve. Other announcements in this edition of "Jump Press" included a new visual and special video for Mission: Yozakura Family's second cour and a trailer for the highly anticipated The Elusive Samurai.

My Hero Academia Will End as One of the Best-Selling Manga of All Time

My Hero Academia's impending ending has been widely praised for sticking its landing. Meanwhile, Season 7 of the anime by Bones is receiving similar praise and is considered among the best of the series so far.
